Obviously not a ford, but I did it with a chevy conversion van that had the 5.7. It was okay...It didn't break any land speed records, or get 64 MPG like a cummins, but it did it.
we got a work van an 2003 ford E2500 van with the 5.4 Its got over 280k on it and it runs like a champ, doesnt give us any problems. Orginal transmission and all.
I used a 5.4L E-250 to tow my '70 C10 from Indianapolis to Lansing and back. It was okay, couldn't go over 60, but the fuel mileage was surprisingly good. Luckily it was flat because I don't know if it would've climbed any hills.
i towed my tj on a heavy steel equipment trailer to drummond behind my friends 1999 e150 4.6L.
it actually towed pretty good, i was impressed. the factory beds suck ass.
get a cargo van and set the interior up yourself.
I had a 2005 E-150 with a 4.6L that I towed my CJ-5 on a flatbed and it did great. Now I have a 2008 E-350 with the 5.4L and tow a 6,500 lb travel trailer and it does OK. I would rather have the 6.8L V10 with the 5 speed trans, but oh well. It is very nice to stretch out a little with the vans over the crew cab pickups.
