I have a 1997 astro trans and wanting to put it in a 1999 4x4 jimmy, have reseached and have found both people saying yes and no about shifting proper... Has anyone done this or know anything about it?
No please
You cant clean the burnt tranny material out of your old convertor,so why would you put that junk in your new trans? Buy new or run the convertor that comes in the working trans, unless you like doing s10 trans swaps.I dont, they suck to work on.
i don't run automatics in wheelers bdd, didn't think of what you said. my mistake. what bdd said.
now with that in mind, will boiling the converter in water for a while clean out the clutch material? or a sonic parts washer? are they safe to stick a pressure washer in with say a 30 degree tip?
so have found some info on blazer forum that says 96-97 only????? and and on another forum says 97 and newer! idont like you working on s10 so dont want to do it more than once lol
so i changed it, works just fine having 97 astro awd trans in a 1999 4x4 gmc jimmy thanks for all the input guys
