My friend is doing a disc brake conversion on his 14bolt sf. He was pulling the axles and noticed that the gears in the diff case are sloppy on the passenger were it sits in the diff. as you can see from the pics it's marring up the teeth on the gears. Silver lake trips are on hold till this is figured out. Him and I are not sure what's up with it so please check the pics and post your opinions on a solution. Thanks.
From the pics thats not residue from oil. the gears are actually marred on the last pic. Are you talking about the bearings on the end of the axle? if so no we checked them.
So spider gears are being abused somewhat. Get a carrier locker and call it fixed or get new spider gears, does't mean the carrier bearings are bad but it is always beneficial to check them while things are out.
