A couple buddies and I want to get up north next weekend for some wheeling. No UP, unfortunately we need to stay south of the bridge. Any suggestions for a campsite...preferably rustic, I'm not a fan of the tourist camp destinations with 100 campers in a parking lot. Also the site needs to be close to [good] orv trails.
Yup- there too. Also you mentioned ORV trails. Quads and bikes or full size rigs?
There's a Pickeral Lake right off 72 just northest of Klakaska that is right accross from quad trails and there are only 15 rustic sites, outhouses, and a pump well. The lake is so clear that you can see the grains of sand on the bottom at 30 foot deep. It's great!!!
We try to spend a week or long weekend up there every summer.
Ooo sorry I did not specify more. I have a mildly built up TJ and Id like to get it on some full size trails. Thanks for the Kalkaska suggestion. We'd also like to get out to some fishing spots that are ORV accessible only. Any other ideas?
Canoe Camps in Harrison. Right on the Muskegon river MILES of forest roads to tool around on. R&V 20 miles south . TT 65 north west. Houghton Lake 8 miles north, St. Hellens Motosport area west 20 miles,, mostly trails all the way. Just off old US 27 between Harrison and Houghton Lake Mi.
