currently has a 8.8, disk braked, 4:88, spool, hd cover
dana 30, 4:88 lunch box, heavy cover, upgraded steering ect
think is worth the 44 and 9 in swap? i have the 79 hp 44 with correct drop and matching 9in but, i will be starting all over with gears, lockers, mounts, ect.
Yes i would definetly just leave what you have in there alone. If you didnt already have gears lockers and what not then go for it. But the money you will spend on the new axle wont be worth the little you will gain in strength.
Maybe get the 44/9 in combo geared and locked how you want them, then wheel the old axles until something breaks. That way you have some nice backups that can just be swapped in easily.
thanks for talking sense into me, it will occasionally break a front shaft but not very often. i run a 35in tire. ill leave it alone i suppose. or see if i can find a deal on a 60 lol
its not out at all looking at my options right now, going to look at a 60 tommorow, if my plan would of worked i would have a 60 and a fab 9 but people cannot hold to their word on selling things. :whiz:
Wrong approach. The question is what is your long term goal for tire size and type of wheeling? What about the 44/9 interests you? What about the 30 don't you like? The joint size of your 30 and a 44 are the same. If you are not going above a 35" tire, going to a 60 is not worth the time, money and you will have a heavy low dragger. How much money do you want to drop into it?

Personally, if you decide to go with a 60, I would still build the 9". The 9" has about as much versatility as you can want, I've been very happy with my setup.
If you are going to swap for sure keep the 9" nothing stronger than this when you take in the weight compared to a 14 bolt or 60. A 9" has 3 pinion teeth that are in contact with the ring gear. Most all others only have 2. And on top of that the aftermarket world for a 9" well you know whats out there. We just bulit a 9" with 44 knuckles for my friends jeep. Now he has a 9/9 combo great strength and less weight than a 44 or 60.
9in will stay no matter what, if my 1000hp+ drag car couldnt break it the sure wont. Plus i have a nice aluminum mark williams center section ill be using left over from car.
