Reagan made Clinton look like a great president. My thinking is everything Reagan did Clinton rode the coat tails all the way.

Do you have a source for this statistic? Even the U6 measure is under 10%

Nobody could know what would have happened under the old system. What we do know is that the rate of increase is not much different that what it used to be.

Labor participitation rate (63%) is a better indicator. Although if you rely on government to tell you how well the government is governing then you should expect to be lied to.

What I love about this is that if as a liberal I said what about those people that have given up looking for work and just want to live off of handouts I'd probably hear a big f' them from the right, but when asking about hard stats suddenly you want to count them.

beer.

if the gubernment is so sure it knows what it's going, why is it seeking to put more people on government "free" programs instead of putting them to work?

Because democratic socialism.

Bernie will create government work camps where all the unemployed will do menial labor for the government.

Obama (and Hillary) have made comments and efforts to shut down the coal industry because it's not clean. My son in law's family is from West Virginia and many of them are out of work. In fact, his cousin is here now looking for work because there is none there. Imagine coming to Michigan because of a better opportunity.

I don't know what might be going on with steel workings, but I image it's probably due to drop in demand or more imports. Again, things change, adapt.

Not a drop in demand as much as the dumping going on from foreign countries, especially China and Korea. Take a look at the stock status of US steel, AK steel and Arcelor Mittal. We now have to carry insurance policies on our shipments to guarantee payment.

Overall unemployment is down, so there must be other industries making up for those losses.

I don't know the specific stories about those who's health care costs have gone up. What stats I could find show that overall healthcare costs have continued to rise at about the same rate as before Obamacare started. From what I've heard in most cases where someones cost went up a lot it was due to their old plan not meeting the minimum requirement mandated by Obamacare.
Multiple stories out there on people who are now forced to pay for insurance they can't afford and those who's payments have gone up. My grandson has some severe health issues. Although my daughter's household income went down last year, their health care costs skyrocketed.
poverty levels are up.
Food stamps are up.

I agree some things like construction are booming but on a personal level for both myself and others I know, things are not super rosy.

Reagan was the beginning of the decline of our economy. Not that it was ever that great, but you can't cut taxes so drastically without knowing how to replace the lost revenue.

Because they want us to be dependent on them. "Don't bite the hand that feeds you." If they feed us, clothe us, give us "free" healthcare, then we are less likely to say or do anything that would put those things in jeopardy.

Not so sure about this but will look into it.
I do remember the Carter years of gas rationing and double digit interest rates. Reagan did inherit a mess. Need to do more abering into this.
