I'm not sure of your budget or commuting criteria, but I stayed in Hillside Apartments in Wixom for a couple years. In-unit washer/dryer, paid gas/water/trash so you only pay for electricity. The price was more reasonable than a comparable apartment in Farmington. There is also Portsmouth and The Springs on the same road in Novi, but Hillside has city water whereas the others have well water (rust stains). I had no issues and no worries about my pricey vehicle being parked there. However, the complexes just east of there were not so good. Stone Ridge supposedly had some motorcycles stolen (the news story sounded fishy though, as if the "victims" had it coming) and a homicide. At The Village, some tweaker had a coffee pot in his bathroom, and it caught something on fire, which he threw into a trash can, which caught the trash can on fire, so he put the can outside which caught the building on fire and burned the building down.
Within Farmington, Independence Green is cheaper but filled with questionable characters. They blindly rented my friend an apartment that smelled like cat urine, and unfortunately he signed the lease before checking the unit out. Muirwood was somewhat decent but pricey, and the hallway and rec room smelled like curry. Citation Place wasn't bad, but was quite pricey…I recall seeing a brand new Milan on blocks because their wheels were stolen, which I found entertaining since the complex was gated. There were also congregations of geese that liked to sleep in the middle of the road.
I'd stay away from any of those complexes along Pontiac Trail that are keeps getting worse as people move out of DeToilet and look for a cheap place to live. They are all within walking distance for the Village People.
Check out the complex in the middle of the day, if you see a lot of parked cars and people hanging out, it's probably better to keep looking if you don't enjoy wheel shopping.
It's up to you. @no1mover can help you move your stuff, though.
