Starting Project Punisher tomorrow with new front and rear bumpers and have tube fenders on order then hopefully body armor within 2 weeks. Then lift and axles. This is going to be a 50/50 rig. Ok so update. I am planning on a engine swap in the spring. Going to a 1.9 TDI turbo diesel engine. Planning on an ax15 toyota hybrid transmission and a dana 300 flipped. And 8.8 rear axle I have already located and a big ? for the front axle. Buying a new JK in the spring for the wife then its the big one. Till then its lots of reading and finding parts.
This is the stuff I ordered except I got the 3" flare.
Got the bumpers on today. Needs a winch now to fill that big hole. GL4x4 stickers are here yay!! They should add 10 horse. new tube fenders should be here any minute. Let the cutting begin.
LOL!! Wasn't it you that said they all look the same all scratched up and covered with mud. But I bet I could get a deal on a silver paint job from Matt with all that extra paint he has.
Got the new toyota/ jeep hybrin transmission be shipped to me which will bolt up to the 1.9 turbo diesel. Also going to get the dana 300 tcase tomorrow. Planning on running the reverse cable twin sticks.
items still needed.
1.9 diesel engine $?
acme adapter $600
toyota r151f bell housing $150
clocking ring $<100
shifters $300
drive shafts $400
Man its been a great week. Just found the engine. Its still in the car with only 67k miles on it. Its not ideal but for the extra savings its worth it. It also comes with the car but its been stripped. I figure its still worth a couple hundred in scrap and the wheels, tires, trans and some other things I can sell that I wont need. Just waiting for the trans to be shipped and I can start putting the drivetrain together in the garage.
Well not a lot goin on but got the engine cleaned up some, and worked on the new custom trans and prepping the flipped dana 300. Its going pretty good but still need some stuff. But its gonna have to wait till the doctor bills are payed.
They were folded up because of a female driver. lol.
I suppose if you really hit something hard like another car, then they would probably push back into the body, but they are 1/4 inch steel. We have a set on another jeep thats been out alot and bounced off some trees and rocks with nothing more than a scratch. So they are perfect for off road and better than bent up sheet metal.
Looks like a good deal. But is that little motor going to be able to move that heavy Jeep. Is there much that you can do to them power wise. I have been looking into Diesel Swap but mostly at the bt4 and the isuzu3.9 just never though about something this small.
Yes they can make torque. Stock they already make more than the 2.5 and with some work, guys are pushing 300 hp and that means the torque would be.... well pleanty.:naughty:
I thought about the 4bt but again I am thinking lighter. I dont want a 700+ lb engine and all the larger axles and drivetrane that go with it.
