DTE will not give us an estimate. My parents are only about 5 miles away and have power. If I have to, I will just empty my water lines and go over there. However, the fireplace has the house At about 70, and it looks cold outside.
Mine went out about 11:30 AM. Drove my line and found a down wire spanning three poles. Called it in as a down wire and the guy said someone would be out within 4 hours to rope it off until a crew can get to it. No estimate of a repair time. Running my generator off the gas tank on my zero turn mower so I don't have to fill it every 2 hours. 4000 watt generator wired to run the whole house.
My house was 69 degrees at 6:00 am when the power went out, and it has dropped to 59 fourteen hours later. Given my calculations, it will be cold as shit in here when I wake up.
I lost my at 11:30 last night at a temp of 68, woke up for work and 9, it was 50, came home at 4:30 it was 47, and flipped the main and it just broke 60
My parents have had a standby generator for about 4 years, have used it a total of 4hrs in the last 3 years, this year it went out and they have lost power about half a dozen times all for 2+ days and the asshole repair guy has little to no rush in getting repaired.... They are far from happy.
"OMG OMG, DTE is telling us power will be restored AFTER christmas, we need this fixed ASAP"
lady, we are booked until February, so if you would like to pay OT, we can have a tech out today around 5pm.
"OMG, THIS IS ROBBERY, I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU AREN'T MAKING MORE SPOTS AVAILABLE"
rinse and repeat.
Excuses I've heard today for needing emergency service (none of these were for failures, lack of maintenance)
1. My horse is dehydrated. I need my well pump working
2. Had spleen surgery, medication needs to be refridgerated
3. I had service scheduled with you guys last month, but you forgot to show up, so you should come out ASAP for the same price
4. no heat
5. it's almost christmas
6. no heat
7. it's almost chirstmas
8. no heat
9. it's almost chirstmas.
blah blah, your lack of planning does not constitute an emergency on my end, unless you're willing to pay.
My parents have a backup generator and yet still have a large enough propane heater for indoors for heat, a stocked camping kitchen, 2 deep cycle batteries to power an inverter to run aquarium heaters and enough flashlights, candles and lanterns to land a 747. Not to mention the artesian spring a mile down the road. They have no power (read my previous post) and are living more comfortably than some individuals that still have it because they aren't idiots. They enjoyed coffee, eggs and bacon w/side of toast this morning in a 68* house with no power WHATT???!!1!
Also I will be driving to grand haven tomorrow night and back Thursday. If anyone needs something let me know I would be happy to go up to about 30min out of the way to help. I travel 69 to 94 to 131.
