Working on a 95 sonoma with a 4.3 and standard trans. Interchange says only 95 will work. I found a 92 and wonder what the difference would be. If anyone knows I would appreciate your input. Thanks.

2 or 4wd? 92 will work so long as it came from a s-10. Prior to 1993 they were called HM-290 and 5LM60. these early transmissions had 4 shift rails. in 1993 they were renamed NV3500 and changed internals significantly one of these changes being a single shift rail. they also changed the input bearing from a ball bearing to a roller bearing. physically any transmission up to 1995 will work. in 1996 they went to an internal slave cylinder.
