I am looking at getting a boat and the seller says there isn't a title. He doesn't seem shady, but should I be leary or is it going to be a hassle getting one? Is it like getting one for a car?
I registered mine w/o a title.
Bill of sale, MC numbers and serial # from the boat was all I needed. Make sure the bill of sale has date, price and sellers name, address and sig.
From the DNR website:
"Transferring Ownership of a Watercraft-
If the watercraft is not titled, simply complete the back of your watercraft registration. If you have lost the registration, then a complete bill of sale with the year, make, hull identification number, registration number (if available), and the names and addresses of the buyer and seller may be used to transfer ownership."
