I took boaters safety at the Sheriff's office in Lake Orion, it was a few hours shorter than 8 hours. Depending on insurance history and company it can save you a lot more than a little. I had a friend claim he took the class (he never did) and he never faxed in proof so his premium went up $500. Plus its just smart to take it, there are way to many idiots out there driving boats that have no clue what the rules of the water are.
