So maybe i don't need a new motor.....

Tonight i crawl under the truck, looking for damage from wheeling yesterday, dreading swapping the motor, ect. Something didn't look right, i get to looking and there is a gap between the bellhousing and the transmission. Further investigation shows one of the bolts that holds those two together is gone and the other 3 are loose. I tightened them all up and did the best i could to listen. Sounds like it killed the trans.

Further investigation to come but if its the trans that is noisey i am just gonna run it....i kinda wanted to swap in a auto anyway at some point.

Don't get me wrong, the motor still smokes but at least (i think) it is functional

I had a similar problem. Got to South Dakota to wheel the black hills. At the end of day one I hear a rattle in my inspection cover. Turns out all the bolts were loose and I broke all the ears off the bell housing except one. That and my mom going in for emergency surgery sent me home with only one day of wheeling.

I Tightened it up....it's still noisy....i am 90% its the trans but it so hard to tell because it resonates through everything. I really think that when the trans came loose it damaged internal parts. At this point i am just gonna wheel it until it becomes obvious lol

The tires make it look like it works way better than it actually does lol. I am amazed every time out what they will grab / hold on too.

That yota worked well and now I can put a face to the screen name, not sure if that's a good thing. Lol
Pleasure to meet you and wheel with you and your parts knowledge seemed to be endless anytime a need came up. I now know who to ask when I need something and on the cheap.
