well as some of you know i got in an accident leaving the blessing in my tj.
what the jeep has done to it
-32 11.5 15 bfg mt's on steel d windows
-2.5 inch rough country progressive spring lift
-front bumper from tab
-mile marker winch
what it needs to run again
-front axle
-front control arms
-1 new tire (dropped it off today so that is pretty much done)
-steering gear box (i have one just have to install it)
purchases so far
-front d30
-4:10 gears to mach front axle
-d35 detroit locker
-new 32" bfg mud terrain
-rough country long arm kit
-one inch motor mount lift
-antirock front sway bar
-1 3/4 die for bender
-1 1/4 die for bender
the insurance company gave me 3300 dollars for the damages. i really dont want to go with bigger lift or tires at this time since i am planning on putting d60's and 39.5's on it with some stretch at some point in the future.
so i need some advise on spending the rest of my money! i am thinking about gears and lockers for my axles to get me by til i get everything ready to go big! what the hell should i buy?:beerbang::beerbang::beerbang::woot::brilliant
I thought they looked bigger than 38s but I heard them referred to as 38s (by Alboy) so I assumed that's what they were :Sonicjay: :sonicjay: :sonicjay:
I broke it a couple months ago but I finally got around to pulling the cover. I was hoping for a broke locker but I figured it was the gears. V8+d30=broke :teehee:
BbaXJ I tried to get a pic of how the aa shifter mounted up but I have a small ice and mud issue on the skid :teehee:
I got my other grill put on and pulled out the 4.5" springs in the rear and installed the 3" springs I got from coyote. It is sitting a little more level now. I need to find some flush mount turn signals to put in the grill. Any suggestions?
If you have a Meijer near you, they actually have some decent small ones for cheap in the automotive section. They're about 1" diameter. I don't remember what other sizes they had.
With the cheap/universal LEDs most people have to add a flasher relay, otherwise I think it thinks the bulbs are burnt out and does the annoying fast flash due to the low power draw. Maybe some of the better setups have it built in though.
I was wondering about doing jk lights but I figured they would cost more than I was willing to spend. I should have payed more attention to your jeep when you were here, Al. I like the lights dreezy posted but $160 is a little out of my price range since my headlights work just fine.
I am going to build some longarms for the front of my jeep this week and I am torn on how to do it. I have a pile of 1.25 hiems and weld in bungs (overkill, yes, but I have them) and I also have some rubber bushings. On the axle end should I drill out the brackets and grind my misalignment spacers down a pinch and use hiems on both ends or do I use the rubber bushings on the axle end. I am going to use the hiems on the frame end.
Edit - I am using the rubber on one end. Way easier.
Got the lower part of my longarms built and the brackets welded out. I also got the front axle ripped out today. I picked up a hp d30 that already had 4:56 gears in it. I just have to swap my locker and shafts over to it.
