so my parents just moved to dearborn heights a few months ago and we were planting trees today and kept finding rocks everyware burried in the yard , well we didnt think nothing of it ( house was built 1930s ) we found a section about 6inched under the grass thats about 6-7feet long and 2- 2 1/2 ft wide , theres chunks of granite rocks and other types of rocks that someone poured concrete over , well in the center of this area theres no rock or anything for about another 1-1 1/2ft deep and then theres a flat type of slab in the center of this whole area , weve no idea what it is or if we should even keep digging , any ideas ? , old lady next door has ben there sence the houses were built and has no idea and says nothings ever ben there sence shes lived there ........ kinda weird i guess , anyone got any ideas ? ..... ill try and get a few pics tomorrow
the land the houses are all on use to be farm land so i guess anythings posible , but the rocks are all nice rocks like river rocks and a few diggrent colors or granite and for someone to have some nice rocks like that and cover it with concrete just seems weird to me , it being farm land back then im doubting septic
filling a well with gold and silver ? no way , idk but my mom said if it was in the back yard she would have no problem digging it up , she dont want her front lawn messed up with doser tracks
yea true i didnt think about it being a square well , at 1st we thought it was a bon fire pit but then seen granite , thats a expensive bon fire pit lol
Probably the remains of an old well or whats left of a foundation. There was the remains of an old well house buried in the back yard of the house I grew up in in Dearborn.
right off inkster and powers , hazel street , we found the whole thing thow so im doubting a foundation , and the lady next door has ben there forever and knows nothing
Obviously it's something from before houses were there, probably from when it was farm land. And you found all that was left in your yard. It's probably just a part of something that was much larger and the rest could have bee nhauled away or buried elsewhere in the area.
i'm having problems finding the username and pw. sanborn seems to change it, but google it and you might just find it...or a secondary source.
these are the maps that were at the local fire departments. the insurance companies used them too. it was a way the fd could see what was on a specific site when going to a fire. even privy's are plotted.
don't fill it in! at least bust a small hole and stick a camera in there so that we can see all of the buried treasure that you are leaving behind.
