Putting fullsize axles under a cj7

I have been looking at getting a cj7 and putting full size chevy axles under it. I was just wondering if any of you guys have done this and if you could give me some pointers. I have been trying to find info on it but i have not found much. My biggest concern is steering. Its there any aftermarket companies that make parts to do this? Thanks

I'm in the pocess of doing this now. As for steering, I'm going with a cross-over, high steer set up. I ordered most of my steering components from http://www.racingrodends.com/

PM me if you'd like more info.

Don't default to Chevy axles. Concentrate more on whether the axles you buy have flat-tops since both Chevy and Jeep used bascially the same D44 fronts for a numbe rof years. There is also more widths to choose from when dealing with FSJ axles.

You will need to outboard your front springs regardless if what front axle you choose. Concentrate reasearching spring outboarding and full-size axle kits first. Poison Spyder makes a nice kit.

Find yourself a M1009 Blazer---Get an aftermarket CJ8 body --comp cut the rear fenders and drop it on --Think the m is about 3 inch longer in the frame but you'd already have a solid drivetrain---6.2 diesel motor--TH400 trans---3/4 ton axles---

Take lots of pictures and let me know how it turns out

Im in the process of doing that now. the steering is actually pretty simple, here is a great kit.... http://www.ballisticfabrication.com/...ds_p_1338.html -I think JCR could do the same thing for you, but cheaper.

a couple of helpful hints... make sure you know what your buying. when i started my project I picked up a "chevy dana 44" that turned out to be a gm 10 bolt

x2 on the flat top knuckles, you dont HAVE to have them, but they help greatly with steering geometry, and protecting your tie rod.

and chevy axles are 67"-69" wide, so its best to run rims with decent backspacing. I'm running H2 rims.

also your bolt pattern is likely going to be different.

i put the posin spyder full width kit on my cj-7 it worked perfect, i used a dana 60 front so cross over steering was simple, i just made a high steer arm and bolted it to the top of the nuckel
