winch is self recovery ! Tow strap is for assistance !
If you cant tow strap em out .. Most likly you cant Winch em out either ...
Plus 2 cars and resistance can break a winch line a lot easier then 1 (your own vehicle)...not a good idea !

You act like I'm stupid enough to say, "ah there's a nice little part of the bumper sticking out there let's just wrap the cable around that a few times and giver a little yank!" I clearly said she had a tow hitch to clip to. I'm not a f*cking retard I just asked why my jeep was rolling forward. Jesus you'd think I was AJ

None of this is true, please stop posting.

1) There are many siutations that winching another vehicle is the only option. It is much slower and controlled. For example, a vehicle which needs to be pulled sideways, or, one I recently did: jeep is half way down a steep slope with 2 feet of snow. I could back up to them, but could not pull myself + them up the hill. My truck was anchored and ran 100ft of line and pulled them up. Not self recovery.

2) See above for example of not possible to strap but possible to winch

3) The force on the line is a result of the winch, not that its 1 vs 2 cars (i.e. 2 cars isn't twice the line strain).

I hope you don't mean the ring that trailer's safety chains attach to?!?

If so, then...

I believe he's referring to a D-shackle on a receiver mount.

well if they're stuck, they dont have much of a chance of chasing you do they?

Let's hope so. I just don't know too many soccer moms who travel around with a D-shackle sticking out of their hitch. :tonka:

Let's just all be glad that your Jeep was the first thing to "let loose."
