Both new Ford diesels will be made and developed in-house, along with some new gas engines. All within the next three to four years. So get ready for a big change in the Ford powertrains.

thats exactly what it is. More HP, a lot more torque than the 5.4L gasser and a LOT better mpg, all in one. It WILL be priced higher than a gasser. This is not a small diesel in a half ton truck with a I4-V6 power output, this is a workhorse diesel put into a 1/2 ton truck, made to tow.

no sir. It is not that. You already have a truck that can price upwards of 60k. If you add an upgrade on a similar pricing as the super duty's diesel you're tipping the scale into the 65k range which is well into the base of a gas super duty. The ability to sell such a combo at that price range is slim and none. The desire is a v6 diesel capable of a moderate increase in hp and torque with much better fuel economy for a small increase in price to the half ton truck staying under the base of the super duty segment.

There is a 60K F150? I went to "build my Ford" at Ford vehicles and the Harley Davidson 4x4 starts at $40,700 and EVERY option including rear DVD, navigation, carpeted bed, full tow, etc was $47,490.

you can already buy superduty gassers cheaper than 1/2 ton gasser with the same powertrains, so I don't really know what you are trying to say. The truck market will always have an overlap.

Lets say you want a basic truck, but you need the 5.4L power, ext cab and an 8 foot box.
F150 XLT (lowest options to get a 5.4L)- $34,330
F250 XL - $28,870
F250 XLT - $33,325

I'm curious what you do on the 3.9L and 4.4L... and what part of the motor is Cummins?

In Lothos Land, yes... there is a 60K F150, and I bet the gas tank can not be replaced or repaired... ever...

Last I saw for the next gen super duties, they were a good chunk higher than that, even.

BOnes, Lothos is correct on one point, in *half-tons*, the diesel will sacrifice HP compared to the gassers. And that is felt on the road....

And except for Ford, who has the pussiest motors on the planet right now, damn near every half ton (Nissan probably the other exception here) can make more HP in a gasser than the biggest 3/4 ton diesels do.

Ford has never put more emphasis on HP than torque though.

In 1985 we built an Allison gas turbine powered Fiero.

I'm still waiting for it to come out in production. I mean, we built it so they've gotta produce it, right?

Well, that and a "fuel squeezer" diesel equipped K5....
