Default Jeep Commander

Anyone have one? Going to be leasing one for the wife, was just wondering what the actual mpg is on them. And also, how well you like it. I personaly think they are ugly, but she insists on getting one.

Mom has one and it is pretty nice. Little odd for me to drive it, but that is from driving an XJ all the time. She has the 6cyl in hers and gets about 18mpg in it with mixed driving. Tows decently for its engine size also.

I borrowed my Moms 4.7L Commander to take camping and tow the YJ. I got 13 mpgs towing a trailer with the YJ on it. I'm not sure what it would be unloaded I'm guessing ~17 ish maybe.

They ride nice but have some blind spots if your wife is short.

Edit: she had it for a year with zero problems.

You will always here horror stories about someone who had nothing but problems with their vehicles. I hear it all the time at work about Dodge and Jeeps. But, I have never had a problem with my truck, well other than the whole exhaust coming off at the dunes. But that was my fault:tonka:

my girl has an 08 Commander with the V6. Rides nice, drives nice, gets about 17 ish mpg. I have an 07 Grand Cherokee(same platform as Commander) with the 4.7 and I actually average about 18 ish and I drive with a bit more aggression than her. Also, they updated the 4.7 for 08 so it should get a little better mpg than mine. The V6 gets it around fine, but I don't really see it getting better mpg than the V8. Oh, and niether of us have had any problems at all.

Dont get the V6, the thing cannot get out of its own way. Overall they are pretty nice, the front seats are good, but the rear seats suck and dont have much room.

Good point with the seats. The Commander is designed for a third row seat. Even if you don't option the third seat, the second row still farthur forward. My slightly smaller Grand has more rear seat leg room.

We are a little past 2 years on ours, 4.7 with towing package and bells/whistles.
Just turned 30,000 miles.

My wife loves it, I never liked the body style but have been very impressed with it's ride quality (we call it the Commaddy) and with the MPG and power of the 4.7.

I got 12.5 mpg towing the TJ on a heavy ass trailer to IN. last year, and I have gotten 19.0 mpg on a long highway road trip without towing anything.

Blind spots do kinda suck, the 3rd row is not very roomy...but I did take 6 people (including myself) to a concert and they said they were plenty comfortable.

I allow my wife to say "I told you so." about getting it. I hate buying the first model year of cars...but I have been impressed.

I will also suggest that you pick your package wisely. We have every option(heated seats, 2 speed t-case,adjustable pedals etc.) except Hemi, DVD, and the chrome and bling in a base type package, not the limited and saved thousands over getting a limited.

A guy at work has one. He hasn't had any maintenance issues but gets about 14 mpg city driving to work and back. He has the 5.7L Hemi in his. He's also a lead foot.

I have the 5.7L Hemi on a loaded LTD with Quadradrive II.
I average 15 combined city/highway.
I've seen as low as 13 (all city) and as high as 18 (pure highway gas stop to gas stop)
I'm not including the winter frequent use of the remote start/warmup.
I've owned it one year, and 12K miles.
The only non-scheduled maintenance I have needed is a recalibration of the outside temperature display.
We love it.
I bought a new '06 in March of '07, Sticker: $42,156. Out the door price/w 7yr70K maximum care service contract: $33,120

Another strange thing about the second row seat is that it has stadium seating...it sits really high.
