fire waiting to happen

this is from the 65 comet my dad bought in the fall. What a piece. all 4 brakes were toast, 4 mismatched tires on awful rims, 2 bad balljoints, floorpans are rotted and patched with scrap sheetmetal riveted in, gastank consisted of a gallon can with a hose stuck in it, no weatherstripping, front bumper falling off, some oddball radiator hacked to fit, wire taps on EVERYTHING, and thats just the stuff ive actually gotten started on. Im not too excited about working on whats under the dash. This is the kind of wiring that starts fires. that black thing hanging on the very left is the fuse block. I have no idea what the black plastic box hanging in the middle is.

not too bad from a distance tho... in fact, the more distance between it and me the better

its an original Caliente with a 289 4v, auto, 2.89 (!) gears, originally this color http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1965-...QQcmdZViewItem , in and out. It was going to get a 347, disk brakes, and a bunch of good stuff, but then we found out its just a little too rough, so now its just get it safe and straight and get rid of it.

im trying to see how that is too rough, bumper cant be too bad if you hooked a tow bar to it, I would expect wiring to be a mess and need a full replacement on ANY old car restoration... hell chrysler back in the day was notorious for bad wiring and electrical fires from the factory. My dad had 3 in his Super bee that he had
