i think we should give welfare, medicaid and social security even more money. that will get people spending. then we should raise sales and buisness taxes like mad, and that will get the money back. its a win win also, anyone who is getting their house foreclosed should get a government check to cover the payments.

Medicare and medicaid is for low income people and special needs (pregnant women) in our country. In July of 2005, 41 MILLION people were enrolled in Medicare part A or B. Mind you, the 2005 USA population was around 290 million or so. Percentage wise, that equates to 13.79 precent of our ENTIRE country. Do you you think these people dont spend money on medicine, food, clothes and utilities?

while i am not against medicare, i am in the healthcare field, and i am amazed how many people ARE on medicare... and i totally understand the college kid thing... my wife and i are both in graduate school for healthcare fields. last year she went to the hospital and we were slapped w/ a 3500 bill... AFTER her ins paid some of it...

we have to carry what insurance we can afford, but are inelligible for medicaid (yes we have looked into it)

to be elligible in the state of michigan, one of us has to be hospitalized, and then the state is entitled to 1/2 of our entire net worth as a couple (which right now is about -45,000). THEN we can be elligible.

sucks, cause people who need it aren't elligible, but people who need it and CAN get it can get 100,000's of dollars of healthcare for nothing, where id be paying about 50,000 of that for the rest of my life w/ the ins. i can afford.

not bitching, but our healthcare HURTS the lower-middle class/middle class people of our nation who can't really afford GOOD insurance, and can't get jobs that offer it. but i understnad it's a catch 22. i could move to canada and be covered by the govt. and buy a supplimental insurance plan and my healthcare would be as good as the high-class citizens in the U.S.

yet, i choose to live here and roll the dice w/ my potential hospitalizations (hope it's from a car crash, then im set by auto... haha)

Not everyone can take out massive amounts of student loans to get by.

So you really only pay around 1700 a year for ins and what nots since you really "don't pay for school" at the current time. In all reality, you only need to make roughly $32.70 a week to survive? (1700 / 52) I am pretty impressed.

Are you rotting yet?

So you won't have to pay them back? I guess I assume because of your vaugnes in your loan situation not wanting people to know that you take assistance. :tonka:

And for the record, I took assistance know as student loans and I am currently paying them back. I would once again assume that you believe this about myself because I took assistance.

Oops, I just quoted you saying you were paying tuition again, my fault. You might want to edit that

O yeah and don't try to convince me that you are on academic scholarship

but regardless of how you are going to school a big for being in school.

Edit: Nice edit

Yup, at work and surfing while working. I just stoped and took a few minutes to clean up my post. I'll pay more attention to my non-work since it bothers you so.

damn ladies....break it up. I'm also in school (3rd year) and I know it sucks paying for tuition etc. I have made it just file with a part time job and then working full time in the summer. If you want to blame someone for high medical costs blame the insurance companies, talk to any doctor and they will agree. Medicare does not bother me that much, Medicade on the other hand is a joke. Its abused by a ton of people, Its sad that 14% of our population are on these programs, jobs/money is not that scarse!!

I think it's an absolute disgrace that a so-called conservative would sign-off on such massive amounts of waste!
