The innocence of little kids.

I was sitting in the basement with my family not too long ago when my 5 year old sister, Amber, asked my dad, "Daddy, where is your mom?"

His mom died six months before I was born, so he responded, "She is in heaven."

My little sis immediatly said, "Can we go see her soon?"

My dad started to cry almost uncontrollably, but he somehow managed to sqeeze out a reply: "It will probably be a little while, but we will definitly get to go see her."

Amber then said, "Ok." and went on working on a little picture that she was coloring in at her little desk.

It's amazing to me that the innocent thoughts of a child can leave grown people in tears for weeks, but I still get watery eyes when I think back to that day. It's kind of nice to hear a story about something like this after reading the post about the kid who shot his girlfriend's parents...it almost brings back the debate of "nature or nurture" causing people to have certain personalities.

It is so easy to think that the world is going downhill if we only open ourselves to that aspect of the media (or, sometimes I think it's the media in general), but sometimes we have to remind ourselves that there is good in the world. You just have to look harder for it because the news doesn't always make it that easy to find.

I have seen many kids grow up in my time , raised 3 my self . No one is going to tell me nurtur does more then nature .

Kids are born to be what they well be . I have seen a complete welfare family grow up . Every one of the kids were working people . They didnt learn it at home i assure you .

My 3 , raised by the same couple , no divorce , no change of location . Nothing to effect how they came up . 2 are much the same , 1 space cadet :miff: :gman:

yeah i know how this is my family lost my dad about year and a half ago and my 5 year old sister always seems to do this to my mom but in a way its kind of good because they always seem to keep them alive.

its amazing how smart the little ones are though and what they can remember its kind of cool..

That can be a huge debate. To a point, I do agree with you.

I have to say you might be wrong this time old wise one.

When I go out with my parents there are many times people comment how much I act like my dad. The way we sit, things we do, all sorts of odd random things. Even strangers have made comments about it.

Most people would say that is normal, most kids inherit traits from their parents. Well he isnt my biological father, I was adopted when I was about 8 or 9.

If nature had its way I would think I would turn out more like my "real" father. I am glad that in this case nurture won over nature.
