Default IR compressor oil? 1850 RPM - 5hp

I've searched high and low, what is the recommended oil for these things?

Some say compressor oil, others say any non-detergent oil...

I believe its on the back side of the actual compressor block. I put RED LINE 30 wt in mine about 15 years ago. It's like the Ever ready bunny it keeps going and going.

If you don't want to do that go to The Home Depot and look at the literature on a new one.

The Phantom say's you should always check you oil.

mine came with ingersoll brand full synthetic, the guy said to only use that kind because anything else voids the warranty, which is great by the way, my electric motor went out 2 months ago and it was just over a year old on a 3 yr warranty and the bill woulda been about $1300, thats more than i paid for the whole comp and warranty!

We alway run mobil 1 5-30 (because a straight 30 weight isn't avail...atleast I've never seen it in mobil 1). That's on a compressor that runs literally 50 times a day, fills a 150 gallon tank and the plumbing for an entire shop.....it's had that for the last 20 years with no problem

I think as long as you have oil in it, and it's quality oil, you're OK
