Default Need help ASAP with some heat

Alright, well its very cold out, and my heat isn't working. I have a 92 F-150 with the I-6 300. In the past year I have had to replace the thermostat close to 6 times now. It has over 200,000 miles but drives as smooth as the day it was made and just keeps on running. It doesn't burn anything. In the past two weeks I have put two different thermostats in, they have all been 195* thermostats. The first one I know went bad because the temp guage went all the way to the L in normal and the heat got very cold. The second one I replaced because it wouldn't let the engine warm up and would barely get to the middle grounds of C and N in normal. So i am to this thermostat. I put it in last week, it lets the engine heat up to about the O in normal and then stays between that and the N. The weird thing is, the heat is luke warm, just barely enough to defrost the windsheild, and doens't heat the cab up at all. I replaced the temperature control unit/fan/and vent setting last year, but recently all but one knob has busted off. Another weird thing, if you feel down around the heater on the passenger footwell, it is very warm, well hot, but the air coming out of the vents is not, doensn't seem to make a difference if you change the heat setting to floor/vent/mix/or defrost. I took off the heater input and return lines and the one to the radiator and hooked the compressor up to them and blew out a little bit of gunk, right now I have the prestone radiator flush treatment running through it, any guesses though?....p.s ITS COLD

kinda sounds like the cable that shuts and opens the vents might be stuck open or part way open..or is it vacume...either way thats what it sounds like...

1) Get a new temp gauge (or atleast make sure your's is accurate). Dunno about the F-150's, but the rangers around that time (92-95ish) had inaccurate temp gauges....the one in my truck (94) says the engine is only at roughly 180* when I've checked (with infrared temp gun as well as thermometer in the coolant) the temp and it's consistently at 210*

2) I doubt the T-stat is the issue, nor is the water pump. And, from what you say about the hot air comming out on the floor, I doubt its the heater core either.

If it were me, I'd do the following:

1) make sure temp gauge is accurate
2) you didn't state if the hot air comming from down by the fire wall only comes out when the blower is on or if it is there all the time....if it's there all the time, it could just be residual hot air blowing into the cab from the engine bay (only when driving down the road though) - in this case, I'd pull the heater core hoses and make sure it's not plugged (flush water through it both ways)

If the hot air drops off a lot when the blower motor speed is decreased, then I'd bet your heater door isn't functioning properly......
