Default lets talk about christmas.

How many of you will have a tree and gifts and all the trimmings?

why will you do/not do this?

will you have time off work for christmas?

will you be going to church?

thanks

i get 3 weeks off from college starting friday, which i will spend working for my dad on the oil well service rig. hurray for buttsecksmas. i do not buy people gifts for xmas, if someone buys me a gift i do not refuse it though, thats rude. i have a huge ass party at my place for new years though, and people sometimes give gifts then. i think that people who celebrate xmas are kinda dumb, its not even about the even for most people anymore, just a chance to be big fucking consumer whores.

No tree - I don't like fake ones and I will not kill a tree to put it on display for a month, then throw it away. I have a potted sequoia that is almost strong enough to hold small ornaments.

No gifts piled around the non-existent tree because my wife and I get too excited and just give each other the gifts as soon as we get them. :)

I have seven days off for Christmas / New Years + 4 days personal vacation left; we'll be off from the 18th to the 2nd.

We will not be going to church, we will spend it getting spiritual in our own way - Most likely a nice hike with my parents, my wife and our dog - followed by some kind of totally awesome food that my mother will have had cooking while we were out.

I wish everyone a Merry Christmas!

>How many of you will have a tree and gifts and all the trimmings?
We already have our tree up, cut it down the Sunday after Thanksgiving. Definitely gifts for the kids and we hold Christmas dinner at our house for my wife's family. My family comes every other year or so.

>why will you do/not do this?
Tradition, it's what my wife and I had as a kid, and we want to do the same for them.

>will you have time off work for christmas?
Yep. I have the 12/24-1/1 off.

>will you be going to church?
Chances are slim.

I have a 9 foot artificial you'd swear was real. I have 10ish days off for the break and I have a 5 year old. So of course there's presents. I just buy my own and the ones under the tree are my sons and wifes. Church? ahem, no. To me its no longer an observance of the birth of Christ as much as its a time to stop what you're doing and get together as a family. Granted thanksgiving used to be the primary for this, but in recent years its no longer as a big a deal because everyone's camped out in tents in front of stores now on thanksgiving to buy something at a price they could have gotten if they bought the fucking shit in July.

FWIW, I sincerely think this country needs to permanently adopt a 4 day work week and have the month of August off.

every year we, as a family, go find a tree at a farm, cut it down, and bring it home. When I get back from school we decorate it. We do christmas gifts for each other and the immediate family and god parents and grandparents. Not out of control.

As i am getting older I am beginning to appreciate our traditions more. Finding and cutting down our tree is one of my favorite things to do with my family, and we've been doing it for years. This year we even brought my two little cousins so that we can get them a little more into the outdoors.

We spend christmas eve with my dad's side of the family and christmas day with my mom's side. We have a HUGE reunion the week before to see the large extended family.

Will have a natural tree that we cut down. Yes, presents under the tree, decorations around the house inside and out.

Why? Because I am a christian and believe in the traditions that I was raised with.

Going to church? Probably

No tree or other decorations, because I live alone and rarely have guests so I'd be the only one that would see it and it's not that important to me. Besides, I most likely will not be at my house at all Christmas day.

I will have time off, but only Christmas day will be paid. I'm not sure yet haw many other days I will take off.

I will most likely will go to church, mostly because I will be visiting my parents and thats what they do.
