Default Hotels near Joe Louis

I am coming to Detroit to catch a hockey game soon. I was wondering if any of you know of a good hotel near Joe Louis Arena? I would like to keep the cost around $100 and be within walking distance. Any ideas?

I have never stayed at the Ponch either but I was warned not to. THe wife and I have stayed at both the RenCen and Courtyard Marriots. The Courtyard seems a little more relaxed about things. The RenCen wouldn't let us bring a cooler in but the Courtyard did. The RenCen may be a little cleaner but it is also more $$$. The Courtyard isn't bad at all and a little cheaper.

Either one you can hop on the People Mover to the Joe and enjoy the game. Cheli's and Hockeytown Cafe are both not a far walk from a stop on the Mover either. I recommend Cheli's. Chris might even pop in if you go around lunch time on one of their days off. We saw Dom, Chris and Schnide's in there last time we went down there for the Alumni game at the Joe.
