I have no bitch about what teachers make. They deserve it, I can barely deal with my own kids better yet 30+ of them. Plus middle and high school teachers should have the right to paddle, smack the crap out of, publicly embarrass, ect the smart ass little wigger punks that our society has created.

Interesting Information for People Who Live In Michigan

1. Gov Granholm is the 3rd highest paid Gov in the country at $177,000 in salary. This does not count her $60,000 expense account. Only the Gov of New York and Calf make more than her!true:http://www.stateline.org/live/detail...ntentId=207914
2. Gov Granholm's husband has 3 assistants paid by the sate. The highest paid assistant makes $117,000 a year. no way to verify
3. Our state Congressmen and Senators are the 2nd highest paid at $79,650 in salary. This does not count their $20,000 expense account. Only California legistalatures make more.mostly true:http://www.ncsl.org/programs/legismg...slatorcomp.htm
4. Our teachers are the 3rd highest paid teachers in the country 5th actually:http://712educators.about.com/od/job...teacherpay.htm
5. Our cigarette tax is the 4th highest in the country true:http://www.taxadmin.org/FTA/rate/cigarett.html
6. Our Corporate Income Tax rate is the 7th highest. can't really compare do to our strange "single business tax" system
Funny how we don't have enough money to pay our bills and the only answer is for us to pay more in taxes, when our public servants are getting fat on our sweat!

Pass it on
Not 100% acturate, but pretty close for something from an email

I can see it now
"Yeah mom, I'm never leaving the house when I grow up. In class today, our teacher, Ms. Smith, she still lives with her parents. "

Pick a teachers salary anywhere- they can either afford a car payment (OR) rent. These are the people teaching our future. It's very dissappointing.
Maybe you should ask a teacher to help you with your reading comprehension...

It said nothing about whether teachers are paid to much or not enough... only that they're amongst the best paid in the country. If it's true that good pay = good teachers how come our students in Michigan seem to be averaging in the middle of the pack at best in standardized testing? (that was a rhetorical question, I know many of the reasons)

I dont smoke and glad of that. But if I did I would want to know were the Cig taxes go. Think about how many packs are sold a day at around $3.00 pack Taxes. So if a Million Michigan people by a pack a day than there is 3 mill in taxes collected a day. thats WHat ?? $3.00 x 1 Mill x 365 days = ?????????

I do smoke and give that bitch a shit load of taxes.

Gave up drinking years ago so why not tax booze as hard as Tobacco ??

Better yet make politicians accountable for every penny they spend.

Something needs to be done with Michigans economy, and higher taxes is not the answer.

Michigan teachers are not even in the top five for average salaries.

Its great that the teachers make a liveable wage in Michigan. Too bad there are no jobs here for any of them.

This would be tough to do, since most real business are out to show profit and grow business year after year. As such they cannot just take a vote and increase revenue and decide that they "want to make more money on people that smoke, buy gas, etc".

I don't care what other people make. But someone needs to realize that government is nothing more than a corporation run by elected people and all we can hope for is that they do not make piss poor decisions and bankrupt us all. The only upside, if it can be called that, is they can just tax the shit out of every dollar we make to offset their inability to make wise financial decisions.

Not to mention when things in the real world soften a little everyone pulls back to adjust (people and business), yet the government lags behind and many times refuses to take necessary measures until they are already under water.
