Got this in an email and thought it interesting (not surprising):
To listen to the Mainstream Media and Lansing special interests, Governor Granholm has cut state spending to the bone.
A look at the numbers tells a different story.
Total state spending under Governor Granholm has INCREASED from $38.5 billion in 2003 to $42.8 billion in 2007 - an increase of $4.3 billion ($4,300,000,000) over that last 4 years.
Only in Lansing-speak can you increase spending by $4.3 billion and - with a straight face - call it a cut.
Since Michigan has increased spending under Governor Granholm, it raises several interesting questions, like:
* Why is Michigan's government shutting down?
* Why are Governor Granholm and the Democrats raising taxes?
* Why is the governor closing prisons?
* Where is the money going?
You don't need a Ph.D. in economics to see that these statistics are mind-blowing. Don't take our word for it; see it for yourself. Check out these links from the non-partisan House Fiscal Agency showing total state spending on the rise since Granholm took office.

Michigan doesn't have a revenue problem, it has a spending problem.

Along the lines of state spending.........
Gov Jen wants to build the MSP a new multi-multi million $$ headquarters and give a 1+ million a year service contract to the builders company. Funny thing the builder is also the property owner, is also the realator, is also the largest campaign contributer to Jen.
Meanwhile she has decimated the number of Troopers with her cutbacks to the MSP.
The current MSP HQ is leased for $1.00 a year and from what I saw on my last trip down there, it is maintained mostly by handicapped employees that the state has previously seen fit to help out.
