Default Junk car batteries worth money?

Is there a place to take old car batteries for cash? I saw an ad on craigslist offering $9 each for used car batteries and I'm trying to figure out if it's a deal or what they get out of buying used car batteries? I know scrap but I doubt there is $9 in scrap in a car battery?

Keep them, most battery places, including autozone/napa/etc require a core now, so they are worth 20 bucks to you when you buy a new one.

I think the most you would get for a scrap battery is $3 or $4 at any recycling/scrap yard. Its been a year or two since I took one back, so its just a guess.

There is a battery place on either 10 or 11 mile before I75 that gives you $4-5each for them.

I know a guy that took a trailer load of batteries to a place and got about 6 bucks a peice for them. His friend died, and he ran a salvage yard, with no one to take it over, my buddy is helping clean the place up for his wife. He took about 500 batteries.

Yea but my dad has like 20 old ones, so he'd save a couple for when he buys a new one for the core, but all the rest at $9 a pop? Sounds good to me, the craigslist people e-mailed back and said it's $9 no matter what. I guess I shouldn't care how they are making money as long as I get $9 each for them.

Call Padno's. Up north the yards have been giving $8. Might even try on M-82 auto on Beach and M-82.
