when i went to 4.11s in my 93 i had to get a new carrirer. But i think the cut off is 4.10s and above. As long as ur bearings are good then u dont need to replace them. U are going to need a new pinion seal. IIRC the install kit was like 50 bucks.

x2, except I think it's 3:55 down, 3:73 up. According to your post where does 3:55 fall.....I was under the assumption if you had gears lower (higher numerically) than 3:55 you needed the other carrier.

3.54 is the actual ratio in Dana axles. 3.55 is what the gears come out to in an 8.25 and some other Chrysler axles. There is no difference and the .01 values are generally understood.

Master install kit.

I also agree that this is a lot of trouble and expense to only bump it up one notch. Are you doing this to match another axle you already have?

Actually, I believe in that case, its simply how they round it. Its 11 tooth pinion, 39 tooth ring, to give you 3.545. Both the Chrysler and small Dana axles (30, 35, 44) use that 11/39 setup.

Its not the same case as 4.09 (11/45) vs 4.10 (10/41) vs 4.11(9/37), which in fact are three different ratios.

No, I'm saying aieeght, as in "okay, I didn't know that ratio difference was a matter of rounding and not a difference in teeth".
