Default EGR problems...please help!

I have a 94 Explorer 4.0 and its been hesitant when barely on the gas...i changed the plugs..the fuel filter and oil change....still is hesitant when driving slow...i had noticed that the EGR Position Sensor one of the hose connections was broken....i took it off and ran it...it ran the same...nothing changed...does this sensor have any importance before i got dump 70$ for a new one...and what could be some other possibilities to this hesitation? thanks greatly appreciated...

Have you checked to make sure the EGR pintle valve isn't stuck open by carbon or something of that nature?? What about clean the throttle body?? Possible poor injector spray pattern maybe?

And I'd comment on the sensor, which is probably a DPFE, but I'm not 100% sure with that year as far as how the sensor works.....

yea...i have the sensor off and it seems to run smoother....i also have something else unplugged...cuz when its plugged in and you give it gas the throttle sticks...but both the hoses that go into the EGR position sensor both blow into the sensor...so i dont really kno what the point of it is...the 92 and older explorers dont have that sensor....

Yes, sounds like the DPFE. Pretty common on a lot of Fords. Is the check engine light on?
