Default What axle is it?

1990 Ranger
4 cylinder
5 speed
2 wheel drive
Standard cab and box

Any Ideas as to what axle and more importantly, what ratio this might be?

Crap.....I haven't seen the rig but I was hoping for a 8.8 with 4.10's

Looks like the 8.8 never came with a 4.10 in the ranger.

Ranger 8.8s only came behind the 4.0L up to a certain year, then they all came with them...like late 90's

even if it did it would be a 28 spline 8.8 not a 31 spline.

Was it a year break that changed from 28 to 31 or was it an explorer vs ranger thing?

it was an explorer ranger (28) mustang (28) thing.

Explorer's are all 31 spline.

if you need some 4.10's for an 8.8 that doesn't have them let me, I have a set that I took out when I put my 5.13's in I'll let them go cheap.

My cousin's beater rig is idenical to it, only a 91' IIRC.
His had 3.08's. When they swapped in 4.10's, it made a HUGE difference, better power, better mileage, and acutaly would hold 5th gear uphill.

Not true. Rangers still use a 7.5 with the 3.0 and 2.3/2.5 engines Only 4.0 used the 8.8 and all were 28 spline except the FX4 Level II which used 31 spline shafts. Vehicles with the factory tow package will have a 4.10 or 3.73 gear.

Your right...it was the supercabs that all come with 8.8s after the late-90s I was thinking of.
