since I married my wife:tonka: we'll end up with a 7.3L...I was honestly trying to talk her into spending less money.

altho' I tried talking her into a better Suburban when we bought our 1500 w/5.7L....I wanted a 2500 w/7.4L.

I get 18-19 in my f-150 with a 5.4 going 70-75mph (highway miles)

thats really good the best I ever got was 100% highway 70mph to grand rapids 15.5mpg hand calculated. I liked my F150 but it was a gas hog. I just went to silver lake this weekend and set the cruise at 80 and got 19.1 mpg hand calculated with my 05 F250 6.0L powerstroke...and that was running with a race tune on the truck!

SOrry got off subjuect from the original thread. If you had to choose between the 8.1L and the V10 I would choose the 8.1L. A few friends of mine have a V10 excursion (2000 nad 2001) and they pull an enclosed trailer to silver lake at 65mph they average 5-6mpg.....gas frickin hogs. If you can afford taking your time to search you can find a good deal on a powerstroke hear and there. IMO the diesel is worth it, but Im a diesel fanatic!

auto-rv.com has alot of trucks, but the website sucks to navigate. its better to pick up the magazine at a fuel station.
