I just submitted an email question to the Michigan State Police under the "frequently ask questions".

Told them I know this asshat who is getting picked on & is whining about it.

I'll post up if I get a response.

I only read the first post.

Question:

Wasn't this built as a trail rig? Deal w/ it if you're going to drive on the street. Street legal Q&A have been beaten to death hundreds of times already.

Yes, I've received a ticket for the same thing. I paid it and built the rig bigger.

You have a nice rig, prove it worthy on the trail.

If your not going to read the discussion why butt in? Also why did you pay for something that, had you read the above, you clearly don't have to pay? :miff:

I looked into when I got the ticket.

I did not need the whole discussion since I was answering to the 1st post ... besides reading back on it I didn't miss much I didn't already know.

Time is money and I didn't have enough time to whine about a tire clearance problems ... I too was driving my "trail rig" on the pavement.

i would suggest not challenging the officer at the time of the ticket if they ever do write you for it.. just challenge it w/ the magistrate.. i know its a waste of time but if you piss off a cop they may just find more things wrong.. and if its your YJ you are driving.. then you are definately over mi lift law heights..

If you want to let the government continue to fukc you in the ass, then continue doing that.

Who lives in michigan and builds a rig that is only trail worthy? That seems as stupid as building a rock buggy in michigan.

I'm not taking a day off work to argue with a cop in a court room. I'll make my point to him on the side of the road.

If they pull me over for something that isn't illegal, then I'm sure whatever else they find will not hold up in court.

are your bumper and frame heights legal? i got pulled over a long time ago because my tires stuck out too far. the trooper went on and on about them but then wrote me up for bumper height after not mentioning that at all.

No, my rear bumper is 28" and my front is at 30".

the difference for thos 32 high boys (which are bad ass) is just that, they came from the factory back in the day like that, they get grandfathered just like cars that came from the factory without seat belts etc...

It's not just supersize rigs that are affected either - although 35's tend to stand out in a crowd. I got pulled over coming home from the Mounds last summer - 31's and no flares. No ticket just a warning from Genesee Twp to cover 'em up before I came through again.
