You must provide Current Registration and Photo ID (Driver's License) to the dealer. They have to photo copy them an keep them on file as proof when the Part/Service manager requests the cut code. Just hope that the tumbler has never been replaced.
When I lost the keys to my TJ, I just took my Registration and DL to the dealer, paid $12 and got a new key. Then I went to Ace and had one more made for $2.
Sentry key is a whole different story. Let's just say those aren't $12
