Default !!new info!! HELP can i drive with NO carrier in the front

i have this on jeep tec too but i need help bad! i broke the pins in my locker in my 98 tj d30 i need to take it to work tommarow. i have the stock spyders but i 'll have to pull a verry late night to get it done. i will if i have to but has anyone drove with no carrier in their front axel? my front shaft is allready off. any help will hel i'll take your best guess at this point! thanks aron




and can the pins in a powertraxx no slip be replased or is it junk?

You can do it only if you remove your inner axleshafts. You will need to separate the inner shafts from the stub axle, and replace the stub axle in the unit bearing so it doesn't come apart.

Yes, take it apart at the u-joints. But the outers back in.

DO NOT DRIVE WITH NO STUB SHAFTS.

Your wheel bearings WILL come apart....causing a loss of steering because you won't have a front wheel.

I did this for about 6 monthes with no inners and just stub shafts as said above

no problems bet the unit bearings do seem to wear out faster

It only takes 5 minutes to swap in spider gears if you already have it apart.

But wouldn't no carrier mean nothing to fling oil up to pinion bearing?

If the carrier is removed, and the front driveshaft is removed, what would make the pinion rotate?

...but you will still need to install it (and the ring gear, if you were so inclined and had lower than 3.07 gears)

Technically, you could leave the ring gear off, but to what end? You would still need to pull the carrier back out again when the locker is replaced.

thanks guys i got it moven again now for the locker has anyone had any luck getting a locker replaced? it is from richmond gear and it is a powertraxx no slip lock it was in a d30 and it snapped three out of 4 pins it also has 4.56 gears and it came with the axels so i dont have a receipt.

also can i put my stock spiders back in that carrier with 4.56s?

does any one else have a reciept for a noslip that i can photo coppie?
