I was just throwing out a number, but then I kinda figured it out and I was prety close. I paid $11k for the Jeep and I have put around $8K into it, but that is just parts. That really isn;t counting any labor. It'd be stupid to sell it for cheap because I couldnt build as good a Jeep for much less.

I've looked at this thread, and the list of features, pics etc about 400x.
I keep thinking that maybe you have changed the listing to mention that you'd take a 2002 Chevy Venture, with 75k on it, a new trans, and new fuel pump/sending unit, and 2 year old AC System with 2 new tires...

bump for ya' anyway.

So you paid 11k, depreciate that to 9k. You put 8k into it, so depreciate another 2k off your original 11k to reflect the added wear, so your at 7k, sounds like a straight up trade would work....

What the hell are you talking about? Depreciate $K for added wear and $2K just for the hell of it? I bought it last summer. Cleaned it up a bunch (flaking mirrors and surface rust on the frame, etc). Added $8K in parts. Wheeled it twice. Where are you getting your figures from? Bluebook is $9,600 on the low end, $10,500 on the high end.

And how does $19K-$4K = $7K? Learn basic math, then talk to me.

Well, you can not really factor aftermarket mods into resale value, actaully often they hurt retail value. I am asking not much over KBB.

Exactly, sorry to muck up your thread, and I think you are pretty close to a fair asking price for what looks like a nice clean wj.

Dirty Turdle-11k purchase, plus 8 k in mods equals nothing more to me or anyone else considering resale value other then a jeep you paid 11k for.

Add in added wear and tear due to lift and larger tires and you fall to 9k. Add in the depreciation for your miles and it falls yet again.

Ask the bank, they'll tell you the same, the 8k you put into your jeep you ate.

You will never get the money out of a rig that you put into it. That is just the truth. Vehicles always depreciate. Look at some of the rigs on Ebay saying "just over 60 grand invested", but they are selling it for 24 grand. Unless you sell a vehicle to someone who knows what mods cost, you are going to lose your ass, and even then, you won't ever get back what you put into it.

Now, back to Blaine. Good luck on the sale. Nice Jeep, hope it works out.
