tow rig

where would you spend your money on a new 07 chevy 3500 srw dmax/allison,07 dodge 3500 srw quad cab 6.7 cummins 6speed auto 4.10 gears or a 08 ford f350 6.4 pstroke 5 speed auto. i am ready to order a new one this month

I just bought a 2008 Ford F-250 ext cab 4x4 with the new 6.4L Diesel for my work. AWESOME. Ford has the best all around work/everyday truck out of the 3. Just my input. Good Luck.

i drove the 08 ford with the twin turbo and really liked it... it needs a it more omph though..... it needs a chip for sure.... the dealer here had no problems with chips since its a manufactures warranty and that ford pays for the parts not the dealer..

I would strongly suggest not to get the 6.4L; the problems are just beginning (hydrolocking, flaming exhaust) and are far from over.

we have an 08 f250 4x4 at work. of course it has all the shit a space shuttle has, except for the motor. boss got it with the super gay 5.4L. Can't tow as much and it still gets 8mpg.

I just picked up a 2007 dodge 3500 with the 6 speed aisin and the 6.7 man is she quick and quiet U know they only come in cabin chassi's i had a 9 foot dump bed on it
best truck i have ever bought ford is too much for what junk you get and chevy just look wierd but hey it's your 40,000 do what you want

Having been in all of these plants, I would go with the Chevy. From what I have seen, the best truck for the $$ so far

Dodge, don't buy it for the dodge, buy it for the cummins.

I'd actually opt for an older one.. 07 or older with the 5.9

Thoose motors are more tried and tested than any diesel pickup motor on the market, they're easy to get power out of, and you can beat the snot out of them and they sit there asking for more. I'm not a big fan of the duramax, and I wouldn't buy the first-year production of any motor, that's just me though.

Cummins. Hands down.

exactly. I think all of the new diesels are pretty BA in stock form except for one problem.....no one can tune them like the older diesels. Untill some briliant aftermarket exhaust company can bypass the DPF your going to see diesels staying stock for a while. If I didnt buy a 6.0L headgasket eater I would have bought an 06 Cummins 5.9L.

Ford had to set the benchmark with this truck, they rush everything into production thats how F O R D works. Even with the 3 known trucks that had the leaky injector thus causing the flame throwing event I still think the 6.4L is going to be an awesome engine. I wouldnt own a V10, yeah they have good power for a gasser, but thats it. gas hog! two of my friends have them, my brother has about 10 work trucks with the V10.

i don't mean to bust in on a conversation with people i've never met, but when your talkin diesels i perk up. I sell fords. I ,personaly, would not buy the 6.4l diesel yet. I stress yet. I have a 6.0 diesel right now. Happy as all get out. The guys that have driven it stock thought there was aftermarket work done to it. It was stock. I bought it used, and yes, it has had all the problems that were indicative of this engine prior to me owning it. But so far, since I've had it, no issues. And i've worked it harder than its ever been worked. In the winter I plow with it. A 9.5' steel western v-blade. In the better weather I tow 11,000 lbs worth of jeep and buggy for long distances. With a Hyperpac and 4" turbo back exhaust, empty, i get 18 mpg around the country roads and 24 mpg on the expressway. 17 mpg towing and 13 plowing. I am very happy with the 6.0.
Rumor has it that Dodge has given up the Cummins and is going to put Volvo diesels in their pickups. Ford has available in f250/f350 the Powerstroke. F450/F550/F650 available (jumping through hoops) are the Powerstroke, and Cummins. If you have a much larger budget F550/F650 has an available CAT Diesel. Yea I said a CAT. If you a fan of the trucks that blow black smoke, Ford is where you need to be.


Notice i didn't say anything about Duramax. Enough said.
