Default 100 post minmum for the marketplace

This is one of they only boards I know of that allows people to make their first post in the Marketplace.

I think that to build relationships it might be a good idea to have a 100 post minimum before they are allowed to sale anything.

I think we would have figured out that some people make $500 an hour in their first 100 post instead of learning about it in the market place . . . .

So anyways, what do you think?

personally I don't think it would work. I can see a minimum post count for posting pics like other sites, but it is tough to get to 100 posts. It took me a long asstime on this site. I visit the site all the time, but don't always post to the threads. I think it would really hinder us "leisure" people who don't always use the board as a chat room.

If I'm looking to buy an item, and somebody who is trying to sell the same item comes to the forum [even though he/she typically only frequents another board] to try to sell it, can't do it, so I loose.

I guess being a free thinker kinda proves you get what you pay for.

no way. The marketplace is what brings MOST users here, and once they hang out, they start getting involved with the site.

It helps out this sites ranking in a big way, when people post stuff for sale here, then link back here on other forums or craigslist, etc

I think this would just create alot of bullshit posts from newbies trying to pad their post count to get 100

If someone with less than 100 post cant sell stuff on here then why should they buy something from someone on here? It would be lose lose for everyone. When I first came to this site I was looking for some parts and I bought a rear end. Noboby careed that I only had a few post then

Yeah, and we already have enough members trying to do that get over 1000, or even 10,000...

That's exactly what it would do.

CC already stated the point I would have made (but much more nicely, of course). Its an absolutely horrible idea from a business/marketing perspective. The lack of such a restriction and the very few rules we have (compared to Jeepforums, etc) are key attractions vs. the other boards. 1st posts in the Marketplace are not an issue.
