Unhappy My frame rail broke on an xj is it weldable?

I have a 99 xj sport with about a 7 in lift and 33's .The frame rail on the driver side cracked right in front of where the sway bar mounts. behind the steering box . Can I weld this? Is it a sub frame that comes out? Or should I look for a new xj to put all my parts on

My wifes old MJ did that. We got a some steal,(about 1/4 inch. Bolted that thru that part of the frame and than welded it all the way around the steal we added. Never broke.

I am not suprised at all this happened

I would weld the crack back up. grind it smooth. then take 3/16" plate and weld it over the crack.

Then I would build/buy uni-body stiffiners.

I'm going to try to weld it this weekend. I have to take the bumper off to see how bad it's really broke. it goes up under the braket to mount it.it looks like It's spider cracked under the braket.I don't really won't to switch everything . almost eveything is new motor ,trans, transfer case.

completely plate around the unibody with thicker steel, 3/16 should work good, and fully weld the seams. make the steel over lap at least an inch, and for added piece of mind you could drill several holes in the steel before you weld it on to plug weld to the unibody rails. the better you plan, the stonger and better the weldments will be. you don't want to hack job the rail too bad, it is the only thing holding the front end of your jeep together, as well as the only thing that really provides adequate collison protection in the advent of an accident.
