Default 8.8 lube question

99 8.8 LSD from an exploder

Tag says ~ 80w140 synthetic

What happens if I don't run synthetic? I normally use royal purple, just wondering?

The royal purple is synthetic, I just wondered what the reason for "synthetic only" was.

Synthetic is quite a bit more. I looked around for the grand cherokee, and its around 15-20 bucks a quart. Regular gear dope is cheap. Maybe i was looking in the wrong places, but i never found it cheaper than that.
