Default Ring and Pinion

Okay I need a new ring and pinion and iam going thru PORC to get them, but should i get thick or standard gears. They are going into a Dana 44 4.56 gears with a detroit locker..the ride is a 00 TJ sport with a rubicon 6" long arm suspen and 37" tires if any of that matters..thanks for any input

The TJ uses a thick ring gear set

There really should be no other option once you tell them what you have

It depends on which locker you buy. Just tell them what you need they will do the rest.

Only the Rubicon models use the thick ring gear set. Since he's going to a Detroit, he can use whichever he wants. It's only when you're keeping the factory air lockers that you have to use a thick ring gear (available only in a few gear ratios).

Personally, I'd go with the standard gears and the Detroit for 3.92+ gears. if you ever want to change gear ratios or use it in another axle it will probably be more compatible since there aren't that many thick gear ratios available.

Nope rubi D44's use the thick gear. Standard Tj D44's use the thin gear unless you want a thick gear then run a 3.73 and down case and run the rubi option gears.

The 1997-2006 TJ (non-Rubicon) all use a standard "thin" gear. The Rubicon uses a thick 4.10 gear and the 3.73 and down case (instead of 3.92 and up with a thin gear like the regular D44's do).

All Dana 30 TJ (non-Rubicon) gears are the same (if that makes sense)

1996 was a changeover year for the ZJ only.

XJ gears are available in high or low pinion versions.

YJ gears are available in high pinion only.

WJ, TJ, and 1996.5-1998 ZJ gears are all the same

1993-1996.5 ZJ gears are all the same

XJ high pinion will fit YJ high pinion

I'm going to stop at that before I confuse myself
