Default I never was a big fan of 'Car Talk'

But after stumbling onto this, I will stop listening to them all together.

http://www.cartalk.com/content/rant/r-rlast32.html

cliff notes: This guy wants the government to mandate a power to weight ratio so there isn't 'excessively overpowered' cars on the road.

Read the responses people left him

"I'm going to continue to drive the most gas guzzling, fastest, most deadly automobiles I can get my hands on because of the simple fact that I like it. If you want to putter around in a Geo Metro and all of its three cylinders, go ahead--I wouldn't be caught dead in anything without enough horsepower to beat the guy next to me off the line at a stoplight. And if a couple kids get run over, or a few people get killed in an accident, so be it--there is no shortage of human beings. Actually, if I saw you crossing the street, I would run you down, back over you and peel out across your limp body."
Your friend,
Earl

HAHA!

I bet there have been 10 times more accidents on the road caused by someone getting so tickled at something you two say than someone having a wreck because they have "too much power" as defined by you morons.

Government should stay out of our bedrooms and out from under the hoods of our cars.
Sincerely,
State Representative Brett Johnson, New Mexico

I want to belive what Magliozzi said was a joke, or some trick to lure a bunch of bandwagon jumping dummies in, so he can rip a new one.

I have listen to the Magliozzi brothers before they never sounded so lame when i listened. Shitty brakes, underinflated tires, poor driving skills etc cause just as many or more accidents than "over powered cars". If anything if he is interested in ending traffic deaths and accidents he should endorse stricter more comprehensive driver license testing, bi anual testing, heck get the drunks off the roads. Repeat drunk drivers should not be able to drive period, if they kill people drunk on two occasions they should be pulled out of the car and shot on the spot.

I dont really think a blanaced highperformance car is dangerous. Clearly not dangerous enough to ban.

Almost any car can be driven beyond its safe capabilities, especially if you factor in weather and traffic conditions. I could drive a 3 cylinder geo metro up to its top spedd ( i am guessing around 100-105 mph) and simply not be able to handle a sublte gentle curve on the highway that the vette would handle with ease, or a car going 60 mph comes down the free way ramp and gets in my way and i rear end him because of the metros shitty brakes.

That old 'coot needs to learn how to drive. And stop thinking he is so great and the common man cant handle a car with 400 hp. How did he manage to not crash if its so dangerous.

I was listening to car talk one day and a guy in Colorado called and asked them what the best 4x4 vehicle for his family of seven in the mountains of Colorado occaisionally pulling a trailer. They seriously told him two smaller cars would be better cause everyone wouldn't be in the car all the time. Then they recomended some all wheel drive honda mini van that seats 7. The caller says "wouldn't a suburban be better with seven people in the mountains of Colorado? What if my kids have friends along?" The hosts totally blow him off and tell him the tin can minivan is the ideal car for him.

What a bunch of east coast jack asses honda probably pays them.
