New 4X4 Park in Royal Oak.....

To All,

The City of Royal Oak is contemplating the sale of the Normandy Oaks
Golf Course to developers for single family homes or condos. If you
live in Royal Oak and do NOT want to see this sale happen, let the RO
City Commission know your feelings. Once this green space is lost to
developers, it's lost forever. Residents can email comments to city
officials by logging on to ci.royal-oak.mi.us/clerk/commish.html.

I wonder how much it would cost to buy and turn it into a 4x4 course?

Do it now.

How many acres is it? the state has monies set aside for a southeastern michigan orv area.it needs to be bigger then 450 acres to qualify. if we can get more info I have few folks we can call to let them know whats avalable. you can also ask the City to see if they would be intersted in creating something that could be sponsered & maintained by all the clubs and run by them.

it would never happen in RO, too many yuppies, and that golf course is flat, would not make a good ORV park, and it isn't 450 acres.

don't get me wrong, I''d be all for an ORV in the metro det. area, that's just not , I don't golf, but I'd rather see it stay a gold course. The mounds was almost closed due to the local residences complaining of the noise and dust, and mud on the raod... and that's up in a hick town where it had been in operation for 30 years, and was a gravel pit before that... LOL

If they close Normandy Oaks, I wonder where the next generation of R.O. teenage hooligans will swipe golf flags from? Used to be one of our regular Friday night stops in the summer time.

While I would hate to see the city lose a big hunk of green space in the name of development, that spot would generate a ton of tax revenue after being developed. That's a pretty tough argument to beat.

Now, why do you have to start name calling....... Oh I see....You're another one of those "Keybaord Commando - Tough Guys!" I pitty you!

See that's just the point..... An offroad park worth 20 Million Dollars..... Could you imagine the Media coverage and possible support for securing approved trails accross the country for off roading, just to keep other inner city parks from forming!

Get out of the box.... and start looking at the rest of the world!

FYI the city took bids to sell the property last year. They received multiple bids ranging from 4 million to 18 million. They were prepeared to take 18 million from Pulte Homes, but changed their mind at the last minute. Now they are considering adding the proposal to sell the propety to an upcoming vote. If they sell it, it will be zoned residential, and nothing else.

No, it will never be an offroad park.

Well, I can dream right!

that Sucks! I'd rather have the development there, on a golf coarse, than having more state land devoured for the Yuppie Movement.
