Default 1996 xj frame boxing/bluid with 1/4 plate and 3/16 floor

i know 1/4inch is over kill but steel was free, to get to the piont. with all that added wieght with rear bumper, frame plating, new floor, tools parts should i be thinking on using a different vehicles rear leaf springs? i have tons of hours into all the frame peices and dont want to go back as a friend suggested to re do in 3/16. also since floor is cut out so i rosette weld from ininner uniframe rail to thicker plate?

is 1996 xj 5in lift in front
