Starting to get somewhere now. Got the bed on the truck with a cherry picker, went pretty easy. Time to start fabbing up some mounts.

Got the body mounts for the service bed made up. All 3/8" plenty of beef, time to start drilling holes, 28 of them almost all through 3/8"

The rear mounts were easy. The fronts had to get a little creative to clear some cross members/air tanks.

The rears.

Drivers front mount.

Passenger front mount.

Took the camper into the shop for some work. Doesnt look too bad on the back of the F450. Even with an F450 under it I still wouldnt want to travel with a truck camper on a pickup. Doesnt take much to get the whole unit rocking, yeah a lot of people do it but its not for me. It will feel real planted on the back of the F700 though. Regardless of the work that needs to be done I am glad we went with this model. If it was any smaller the Bloomer trailer would dwarf it, and we dont want that.

Got the bed mounted up. Turned out just like a planned, what a pain in the ass though. Ended up having drill less holes than I thought, and learned to sharpen drill bits with an angle grinder and flap wheel. I was able to get everything within 1/16" of itself, and the bed is about 7/8" off the frame rails. The bed is slightly higher than that of a pickup bed when compared to the back of the cab but not much.

Got the flat bed frame built. The final product will have more boxing and bracing. It bolts down in the corners, the front mounts are attached to the service bed and the rears to the frame. The tube on the edge is 1.25x.25 DOM, I had it around so might as well burn it up. The entire bed will be skinned with 1/8" diamond plate, along with full fenders and an 8" skirt that runs along the length of the bottom of the service bed to make it flow together.

Getting the steps mocked up.

The top step will be larger than the others.

The camper should be out of the shop hopefully next week. If everything goes good the F700 will be ready for it. Our F450 is getting a new motor and we're hoping both are done at the same time so I can pick the camper up from the shop.

Ive got about 500lb of diamond plate to cover it soon.

Camper is getting close. Got to see a few pictures of the damage.

Good to see that there is a lot of 2x lumber in the structure, that's why it weighs 5,000lbs.

Sure will be glad when its done, should be the end of next week.

Looks cool. Having a porch with the camper will be awesome. Like the steps too.

Is having the gooseneck not over the axle going to limit how much it will be able to tow?

It won't affect anything with the amount i tow. With the hitch further back it will make the truck ride smoother when its loaded. With the spring suspension it takes A LOT of weight just to make it squat.
