Subject: RE: Your appeal of the Huron Manistee Forest Plan

Mr. Maddox, thank you for contacting me regarding a resolution meeting
concerning the appeal of the Huron Manistee Forest Plan.

I do in fact still desire a resolution meeting.

The agency provided me with three separate notices in September indicating
three requests for intervention had been granted to the following
intervenors; Michigan Department of Natural Resources (MI. DNR), Mr. Kurt
Meister, and the Michigan Forest Products Council (MFPC). Mi. DNR, Mr.
Meister, and MFPC all were rightfully notified by the agency of their
obligations under 36 CFR Sec. 217.14(d) which requires intervenors to
provide appellants copies of all submissions. Only the MI. DNR has
provided me copies of their comments relative to their intervenor status in
our appeal.

Neither MFPC, Michigan Association of Timbermen (Timbermen), nor Kurt J.
Meister has furnished me with copies of their submissions. It would be very
disadvantageous for me and for my clients to participate in the informal
resolution meeting without the benefit of having seen the issues brought
forth by MFPC, Timbermen, and Kurt. J. Meister, unless their submissions are
removed from the appeal record pursuant to 36 CFR Sec. 217.14(d) and are
excluded from consideration.

I look forward to your reply.

Very truly yours,

Carla

Greetings Ms. Boucher:
I am the forest plan appeal coordinator for Regional Forester Randy Moore.
You appealed the Huron Manistee Forest Plan and requested an informal
resolution meeting with Mr. Moore.
I would like to confirm your interest in a meeting and discuss logistics
and format with you.
Also, there are four intervenors to your appeal (Michigan Forest Products
Council, Michigan Association of Timbermen, Michigan Department of Natural
Resources and Kurt J. Meister). The intervenors will be invited to
participate in the informal resolution meeting.
Please let me know in the next few days if you still want a resolution
meeting so I can coordinate logistics with you, the intervenors and the
Regional Forester.
You may reach me at dmaddox@fs.fed.us or 414.297.1055.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Dain Maddox

Who is Kurt Meister and who does he represent? I assume he is a front from some organization such as the Sierra Club, Greenpeace, Hippies R Us, etc... I appreciate that she is attempting to hold them to every last technicality.
