Default Where is the best place to park my YJ on woodward?

I'd really like to park where I'm blocking the view of spectators who are there to see classic cars. Any ideas?

Is the cruise worth going to? I've never been and always wanted to.

If you have never been, I really think you should go experience it once.

Back in the day, a long long time ago, it was four lanes of classic cars going both ways, burnouts, quick acceleration from the stop lights, awesome cars everywhere.

Then it became commercialized. Over policed, and full of people with jeeps on 35" tires, and honda accords with fart can exhausts. Some argue it's the "dream cruise" but the dream cruise started as a huge rolling classic car show, it has turned into anybody who thinks their car is "unique", aka, window tint, or a chrome "TURBO" decal slapped on the side, show up to take over the complete cruise.

Pair in the people who don't don't have the energy to walk down woodward as normal spectators flood the highway with clapped out mid 90's sedans and explorers to watch the old cars.

It's a mess.

Do you like looking at SUV's and the occasional asshole in a jeep? Then by all means go.

We took the jeep down last night and parked it as soon as we reached our destination, and then drove straight home. It was a nice night for a top off cruise but we go for the classic cars. We find that Tue/Wed/Thur are the best nights because traffic actually moves and it's not grid lock. Last night the traffic moved nice and there were quite a few nice cars mixed in with all the wanna-be brand new vettes, Camaros, Mustangs & crotch rockets.

By the way, does anybody know who owns an orange 4x4 contraption with "bad to the bone" painted on the side?

As far as where to park, anywhere from Pontiac to 12 mile is pretty good.

they claim about 1,000,000 people attend the cruise.

that would take about 300k to 400k vehicles to get that many people there.

figure less then a quarter of those cars are classics, maybe even only 10%

that's still about 30k at my low end to 100k at my high end approximation of classic cars to see, but yes, there's also tons of vehicles you don't care about too.

As CC stated, if you've never been, you should go once, decide for yourself if you will bother to go back, I try to go every few years, but it's probably been 5 years now since I have been.

I don't deem it that important to drive across the state to stand in line. The G.R. one is a toss up. It's right there.

No.

As CC said it's 1 in 10 cars is a classic, and everything else is just stoopid.

bro trucks, army trucks, jeeps, clunkers, accords, fart cans, oh look a cool classic.

Depends on how you look at it. You will see about every style of car built in the last 70 years. If you like seeing the non-normal, it's worth the effort. You will see more classics there in one day than you will see anywhere in 5-10 years.

Step 1) Drive around until you find the dork driving 40 yr old Army Deuce and a Half
Step 2) Lane change in front of their bumper @ 45 mph
Step 3) Stop hard in the middle of the road
Step 4) Clean shit stains from your seats

Worked really well for the guy I almost decapitated in 2010.

Dunno, the crowds were in love with that truck, so I had no problem being there in an army truck. Far more interesting than an 80s El Camino or another Mustang.

I keep hearing good things about back to the bricks in Flint. Never attended, but have heard it's more classic cars and not as crowded.

I've heard this as well. I also haven't attended but then again, I'm not much for car shows.

i enjoy back to the bricks. not as crowded. yes you still get the lifted super dutys, imports, and now lame rzrs. But really its about seeing all kinds of vehicles. I had lots of people waving and telling me they liked my "jeep" last night.

The best part is the people watching. The clothing and demographic really do fluctuate depending on where you are.

maybe its just that snobby ass attitude of the old fucks at woodward. IF ITS NOT A FUCKING 69 CAMARO ITS NOT A CLASSIC. GIVE ME CRAGERS OR GIVE ME DEATH.
