Default 4.0 no start, has fuel, spark, and compression.

Will/can you still get spark if the CPS is causing a no start?

I have a '94 zj 4.0 auto. It appears I have spark, fuel, and compression. It fired once but failed to start and now just cranks...

Thanks in advance.

No. The crank sensor controls the spark. Check the injectors for 12v and a flashing ground when you crank it

check spark plug wires firing order. Where are you testing spark at? Coil or plug?

I'll try that tomorrow. Got to go to work tonight. I only have a digital ohm/voltage tester with probes (Home Depot) will I be able to pull it off with that? I don't recall what the connectors on the injectors look like? Not near the leaky prick currently.

Is the ASD relay energized?

It should work fine but prolly won't be fast enough to read full voltage on the screen as it cycles, if it does. Try and keep from jamming the probe into the connection so you dont spread the terminal open and create another issue. Or rent/ buy a noid light. If there is no injector pulse it on the ground side it may need the cam sensor under the distributor cap and rotor.

Very easy to make one with a 12v bulb

Google it.

Thanks guys. I have a donor jeep (95) that runs so I should have what I need to make it run as long is is not the ecm.

ASD relay? It has spark. I'll check but don't think so. I set off the alarm once while dicking with it and shut it off with passenger door key (only one that works). Had not other effect that I could tell.

Swapped the ASD relay with a known working one. No go.
Made a high speed home made noid light. Injectors are firing. No go.

Only had about 20 minutes to look at it today and most of that was scrounging up junk to make the noid.

The spark looks kind of weak (bright sun though?) so I'm going to start with the ignition next. Also going to check fuel pressure even though the pump am filter are less than a year old.

What did you do before this started? If you changed the ecm to one with security it will run then shut down and not restart.

I hadn't opened the hood in weeks. Daily driven.

Went out to go to work and it turned over a few times, fired once and now just cranks.

Hold the gas pedal to the floor while cranking and see if it fires

Twas this prick. It was sparking but weak apparently. Plugs would spark but not an ignition tester. I hate electrical stuff for that very reason. When shit is broke even a dummy like me can see it. When its just kinda broke but works sometimes maybe...
