Was the transmission stuck in 3rd gear? LOL

At one time, my YJ was on 35" tires with a VERY TIRED 2.5 liter, and it would walk up test hill.

My wife's bone-stock JKU was my favorite dune ride - 12psi on stock tires and rims, point it in the right direction and mash the gas. My LJ went right up test hill, but I needed 8psi - the YJ needed to go all the way down to 4-6psi to find the happy spot. Every tire and vehicle combination is different.

I miss matting my s10 blazer in 2wd and going up test. The bump stops on that thing were toast after the first weekend I took it up there.

The easiest question did you have it in low range? I had an old 65 wagoneer and I made it where by buddies with much more power in thier waggys could not make the top, they were trying in high range. Once they went to low range they went right up.

I swear...most of you are retarded.
You DO NOT need 4wd to climb that hill.

In my rubi in 4lo locked front and rear it would idle up to about 4' from the top.
In 2WD and a little gas it would walk right up that hill.

Actually, I think skooter did crest the hill idling up once when he was locked in low at 1psi.

Now I'm wondering how my new JKU would do just using the "hill assist" and not bothering with airing down so much...

yup.

Anytime someone has had trouble climbing a hill or complained of lack of power in the sand it seemed they were running too high of a tire pressure. It makes a huge difference, even 1-2 psi differences can be big out there.

test hill and sand conditions change weekend to weekend. The recipe for one vehicle isn't always the recipe needed for another. But I digress, let the "I can drive my caddy up that thing blindfolded" talk resume.

I agree. I have been there when I could idle the steepest parts and I have been there when I could not crawl any of it. But I have never been there when it can't be conquered with the right tire pressure and a little momentum.
